Regular people doing boho shit · Unclench and sit with us
On and Off the Zafu is a meditation and real-life practice podcast for people who want the practice without the performance. We are not gurus. We are not here to sell you a perfect morning routine.
We are not pretending one deep breath fixes capitalism, dating, burnout, family systems, bad bosses, grief, menopause, money, politics, or the fact that your nervous system thinks every email is a threat.
We sit down with a real practice: mindfulness, breath, attention, forgiveness, body awareness, rest, pleasure, repair, community. Then we get off the cushion and ask: What does this actually look like in regular life?
Because practice is cute on the zafu. The real test is everything else.
We open honest. Not "how are you," but what actually landed in the body this week before the brain could make it respectable.
A two-minute arrival. Drop the shoulders, unclench the jaw, land in the room. No incense required.
The practice of the week in plain language. Grounded, useful, and free of the incense fog.
We run the week's concept through culture, wellness nonsense, capitalism, and everything else trying to sell us peace while making us tired.
Recurring segment · Zen Bott Om Approved or Walk Away? · Give Me All of It / Meh / Absolutely the F*** NotThe heart of it. How the practice actually shows up at work, in your body, your family, the group chat, conflict, grief, and desire, especially when you're tired and someone is acting wild.
One tiny practice. Small enough to actually do. Specific enough to remember. No downloadable workbook required.
One clean takeaway. Blunt, useful, and repeatable, the kind of thing you say out loud to yourself on the drive home.
"We sit down with meditation.
Then we get off the cushion and ask:
Does this actually help in my messy life?"
We are not gurus, and we are not interested in performing peace.
We are not pretending one deep breath fixes everything.
Unclench your jaw. Tell yourself the truth.
Unclench and sit with us. Then get up different.
You cannot spreadsheet your way out of a body that needs rest.
Your body is not betraying you. It is filing a report.
Not every notification deserves a piece of your life.
Peace is not the same as being easy to manage.
Forgiveness is not a group project with the person who hurt you.
A community is not built by branding the word community.
If your peace requires denial, that is not peace. That is interior decorating.
You do not have to earn being a mammal.
Joy is not extra credit. It is part of the assignment.
The cushion is not the point. What you do when you get up is the point.
